About

Our Founders

Sarah is the kind of entrepreneur who sees a problem and instinctively creates a solution. For her, it started back in 2014 when she originally came up with a solution to a universal frustration, the sticky mess caused by honey bears and standard syrup bottles. She called it The Original Honey Hat, but the idea took a backseat to her busy life and business until a lightning strike moment in 2022 sent her running to a local craft store to buy supplies to build a prototype out of clay. After spending the day molding and baking the very first honey hat, she was sure she had to bring this product to life.

As Sarah began launching the company, she found herself consulting with her longtime friend, Laurie. Laurie started asking the kinds of thoughtful and strategic questions that came from her years of mentoring executives and teams. She asked what the business needed and what kind of person Sarah was looking for to help it grow. In that moment, Sarah had a realization and replied, “You, Laurie.” It was a response that neither of them had anticipated, yet somehow felt undeniable.

Joining forces became a natural next step, rooted in connection, purpose, and a shared vision to create a brand that goes beyond solving a household problem. Through Original Honey Hat and its children’s foundation, Hats on to Kids, Sarah and Laurie have built more than a product. They’ve created a platform for impact, proving that creativity, community, and social responsibility can coexist.
